Everything about the free dynamic QR code generator

What is a QR code?

A QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode: black modules laid out on a white background. It encodes digital information, most often a URL, but also Wi-Fi credentials, a contact card or plain text. When a smartphone scans it, it reads that content and offers to open the matching resource: web page, image, video, form.

What is a dynamic QR code?

A regular QR code is frozen: the URL is baked into the pattern itself. If the link changes, the code becomes useless and everything has to be reprinted. A dynamic QR code encodes a stable intermediate address instead, and the platform decides where to redirect. So you can change the destination as often as you need: the printed code never changes.

Why a free dynamic QR code generator?

Most dynamic QR code generators require a monthly subscription, cap how many codes you can make, or switch your codes off when a trial ends: a QR code already printed on 5,000 flyers going dead is the worst possible outcome. LFQR takes the opposite stance: a free dynamic QR code generator, no cap on how many, no credit card, no expiry date. In exchange we deliberately dropped what costs the most in servers, starting with scan tracking.

What are the advantages of dynamic QR codes?

The main win is never reprinting. A restaurant puts a QR code on its tables pointing to the online menu: if the menu address changes, or the seasonal card moves elsewhere, the printed code stays valid. Same for an event poster whose ticketing provider changes, product packaging that must point to an updated manual, or a business plaque that follows your social accounts.

What to know before you choose

For a dynamic QR code to work it has to rely on a platform that handles the redirect. On LFQR, the generated code contains an address like https://lfqr.fr/...; when scanned, our service redirects to the URL you configured.

That means all your QR code traffic goes through that platform: how much you trust it matters, and a service shutting down takes your codes with it. At LFQR we play it transparent: our name, Ludovic Frank QR, says plainly who is behind the service and who runs the servers.

What about a plain static QR code?

If your link will never change, a static QR code is enough and needs no account: in Google Chrome, open the three-dot menu at the top right, then "Share" and "Create QR code". Plenty of online tools do it for free too. A dynamic QR code generator is only worth it if you want to keep control of the destination.

Frequently asked questions

Is this dynamic QR code generator really free?

Yes — 100%. Create and edit as many dynamic QR codes as you like, no fees and no credit card.

Can I edit a QR code that is already printed?

No. To stay free and respectful of your privacy, LFQR does not track scans.

Do I need an account?

Yes — a free one, so you can find and manage your QR codes anytime.
